This workshop focuses on fire prevention and fire behavior education in Chula Vista. This is a one-day in-depth course where community members will learn the principals used by firefighters in suppression of wildland fire and/or protecting structures in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI).
This course will also teach participants about wildfire behavior and prediction, then apply the knowledge to the Chula Vista’s topography, fuels, weather, and the fire safe construction of homes.
The workshop includes a field trip to apply the classroom education to real-life scenarios within Chula Vista to discuss good and bad examples of defensible space preparation, firewise construction of homes, chimney, and saddle topography.
