Special Olympics San Diego Polar Plunge
Show off your plunge power and join Special Olympics San Diego’s annual Polar Plunge™ on Sunday, May 17 at Aquatica, SeaWorld’s Waterpark to raise funds for local Special Olympic athletes.
Companies, school groups, community groups, law enforcement, and supporters of all kinds will run, walk, or “creatively enter” the raucous wave pool waters to benefit Special Olympics San Diego County.
Each Plunger will receive entry into Aquatica, SeaWorld for the entire day of the event with a minimum of $100 raised. Additional incentives such as annual passes to SeaWorld, Beluga Interactions and more are available for those go above and beyond for Special Olympics. Are you “Too Chicken to Plunge?” You can still register as a chicken, raise $100, but stay DRY while your friends go in!
Funds raised will support Special Olympics San Diego in providing year-round sports training and competition for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
“Sports training is the only thing that keeps me motivated, without Special Olympics I wouldn’t know what to do,” said Randy Smith, Special Olympics athlete.
Plungers are encouraged to create their favorite costume whether they come alone or plunge with friends. Although the best costumes may be rewarded, crowds of people will cheer on participants braving the waters in costume or a swimsuit.
With the help of our Law Enforcement Torch Run® comrades this event is attracting hundreds of people plunging themselves into a chilled down version of the park's wave pool. Crowd favorites at this event include private cabana experience, post plunge pool party, as well as giveaways.
