Chula Vista residents can get into the Earth Day spirit with a number of free events on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Otay Ranch Town Center!
The regional shopping, dining and entertainment destination is partnering with the City of Chula Vista to host activities that encourage recycling and re-use, including:
• Free compost giveaway in the unpaved dirt lot at the far western edge of the center near Planet Fitness. Residents can receive free, quality compost which is ideal for use in home gardening applications as well as reducing organic waste in landfills -- bring your shovels, buckets and tarps to load up! For Chula Vista residents only; proof of residency required.
• Prescription drug drop-off at the center's southern parking lot (near Macy's) where individuals can bring any prescription medications for proper disposal, which diverts harmful drugs from the regional trash and water supply.
• E-waste recycling at the center's southern parking lot (near Macy's) providing an option to bring broken or obsolete electronic waste that cannot go into trash/recycling carts or dumpsters. Accepted e-waste items include: computers, monitors, keyboards, laptops, gaming systems, printers, copiers, tablets, cell phones, telephones, televisions, VCRs, DVRs, miscellaneous cables & chargers, microwaves, vacuums, radios, stereo equipment, speakers (NO wooden speakers) and mini fridges (NO large appliances.)
