The City of Chula Vista will unveil new signage for the naming of Kumeyaay Park of Chula Vista, formerly known as Discovery Park, at 700 Buena Vista Way. In May 2021, the City Council voted to form a task force whose duties included renaming the park.

The new name was unanimously agreed on by the City Council in late 2022 to pay tribute to the Kumeyaay tribe. The Kumeyaay people are native to the region with 13 reservations.

In addition to remarks, there will be bird singing/dancing at the ceremony. The public is welcome to attend.
