Military Equipment Forum

On Monday, March 11, the Chula Vista Police Department will host a presentation at the City of Chula Vista Council Chambers at 276 Fourth Avenue in Chula Vista, from 5 to 7 P.M. Leaders in the organization will present on the department’s Annual Military Equipment Use Report and outline its current uses for military-style equipment. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, make comments, and voice concerns.

California State Assembly Bill 481 (AB 481), which became law in January of 2022, requires law enforcement agencies to post an annual report detailing specific information, including inventory, cost, and usage of military-style equipment for the previous year. In addition to specialized equipment, the report also includes commonly used police equipment such as command vehicles, off-the-shelf drones, and less lethal tools, which have all been redefined by the new law as military-style equipment.
