Elevator Rescue Operations
Target audience: This Elevator Emergencies and Rescue Training class is designed specifically for the Firefighter assigned to an Engine, Truck, or Rescue Company which responds to elevator emergencies.
This course gives the student a basic knowledge of elevator anatomy and construction. A heavy emphasis is placed on the hands-on field application, practices, and techniques vital to the safe mitigation of elevator emergencies; in both, traction electric and hydraulic elevators.
Some of the skills covered and practiced:
- Top and side “picking” techniques for center opening, side opening, and two speed elevator doors
- Elevator “poling” and “drifting” techniques
- Patient removal from a stalled elevator car
- Elevator Phase 1 and Phase 2 operations
