Role and Function
Pursuant to the City of Chula Vista Charter § 600 and Municipal Code Chapter 2.26, the Board of Appeals and Advisors serves as a resource to advise and make recommendations to the City Council, the City Manager, the Building Official and the Fire Chief on matters relating to building construction; and to act as an alternative administrative appellate review body for persons affected by decisions of those officers to abate public nuisances arising out of application of Uniform Codes. This board is responsible for hearing appeals of decisions of the Building Official relating to the application of the building codes. It also reviews and approves the use of alternate construction methods and materials and provides recommendations regarding the adoption of building code requirements.
