We require a set of inspections for all permits to confirm various steps in the construction and installation process to confirm construction is in accordance with approved plans and applicable codes and standards.  Activities include but are not limited to new construction, demolition, remodels, fences, walls, patios, water heaters, water line repairs, electric meter reset, photovoltaic permits, etc.

Below is a list of the typical inspections required for certain types of permits. To assist us in
providing you with the best, most efficient, service possible please include all applicable
inspection types in your request for inspection.

Scheduling an Inspection, Canceling Inspections and Obtaining Results of Inspections

  • Scheduling, canceling or obtaining results of inspections can be done online at our Citizen Access website or by phone using our Permit Inspection Line.  Dial (619) 409-5434 to access this automated system.

If you need assistance, call (619) 409-5868.

Please request the inspection as soon as possible, as inspections are limited each day.  You will need your permit number available to make the requests. Inspection requests received after the daily limit has been reached will be made for the next available business day.  While our service goal has been next-day inspections from the day requested, we are experiencing high volumes and are transitioning to a new permitting software system.

We can’t give you a specific time of day for your inspection because inspection times vary from one inspection to the next.  If you have an unusual scheduling issue or other concern, be sure to contact your inspector the morning of your inspection. Your inspector may be able to give you a time window or make other arrangements.  He/she may be reached by calling (619) 409-5868 between the hours of 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.
