In this highly sought-after academy, teens experience dynamic presentations from members of our elite units such as SWAT, Mobile Field Force, K-9s, Street Team, Forensics, and more.

Our academies are held annually, lasting between 10 and 12 weeks. They consist of one 3-hour meeting per week, culminating in a graduation at City Council Chambers with the Police Chief and Mayor in attendance. The academies are complimentary, with Chula Vista residents receiving first priority for acceptance. We require that participants: 1) commit to the whole 10 to 12-week period, 2) have the desire to meet new people, and 3) have fun while learning about public safety!

This free class is geared towards community leaders (business owners, elected officials, community advocates, church representatives, etc.). Participants will see how the department is a leader in modern, constitutional policing and learn how the department uses crime data analysis and proactive policing to keep the community safe. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a use-of-force training simulation and have lunch with the Mayor at a Q&A session. Please note that workshops are limited to 20 participants. Spanish translation is also available.
