Sergeant Joseph Picone I have been a police officer at CVPD for 23 years and have been serving as the SRO Sergeant since 2017. I joined the unit due to my vested interest in the schools and community. My kids attended schools in Chula Vista and my wife also works as a teacher. I also have coached many youth sports such as football, baseball, and soccer. As a coach, I enjoyed mentoring and building strong relationships with the youth to prepare them to become productive young adults. I like spending time with my wife and kids camping and exploring the great outdoors. |

Agent Tom Craft I’ve been a Police Officer at CVPD for 23 years. I was born and raised in San Diego (fourth generation). I have been a Police Officer for a total 26 years in San Diego County, with three years of experience prior to coming to the Chula Vista Police Department. Throughout my tenure I have held several collateral duties within the department. I was an SRO Officer for seven years and found so much gratification in my work with the unit, and have since been promoted to an Agent. Although I am not a resident of Chula Vista, I call Chula Vista my second home and care deeply for the community, students and the school districts. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any concerns as I am the second supervisor in the SRO unit. I am here to provide the best quality service and to keep students in the community safe. |

Officer Morgan Byers
I’ve been a Police Officer at CVPD for nine years. I was born and raised in Chula Vista; I attended Sunnyside Elementary, Rancho Del Rey Middle and Eastlake High School. I am an SRO because I want to educate and help children. If I am not working, I am either spending time with my daughter, watching her at jiu jitsu practice, working out, or enjoying a Padres game. |

Officer Cameron Isaaks
I have been a Chula Vista Police Officer for seven years and joined the SRO Unit in May 2021. Throughout my career, I have developed a strong desire and passion to educate, mentor and guide juveniles within our community. I truly believe that working with children is one of the most rewarding parts of a career in law enforcement. I have three children, all of whom have attended schools in Chula Vista. As a parent of children who attend schools within our city, I know firsthand what students, their families and faculty expect from CVPD and our School Resource Unit. I have additional training as a PERT (Psychiatric Emergency Response Team) Officer, de-escalation and conflict resolution. I am honored to serve as a School Resource Officer for the City of Chula Vista and look forward to continuing to serve local youth, their families, and the amazing staff that keep our schools safe and our students successful. |

Officer Chad Harbin
I have been a police officer at CVPD for 17 years. I have served as an SRO on two separate occasions; recently joining the team again in August 2020. During my time in SRO, I have developed and continue to maintain strong relationships with school administration, staff, students, and their families. I am PERT (Psychiatric Emergency Response Team) certified and have had training related to mental health, de-escalation, and conflict resolution. I have three grown daughters and have been very active in their lives. I am on the board of directors for the Imperial Beach Athletic Club which serves the youth of Imperial Beach. I am also an assistant varsity softball coach at Mar Vista High School. |

Officer Jose Aguayo I’ve been a Police Officer at the Chula Vista Police Department for seven years and became an SRO in September 2019. I was born in Chula Vista but went to school in Imperial Beach (MVH class of ‘98). The reason why I decided to join the SRO Unit is because I love interacting with the youth and I hope to make their views on police a positive one. I am PERT (Psychiatric Emergency Response Team) certified and have had training related to mental health, de-escalation, active shooter response, and conflict resolution. My wife is also a Police Officer in Coronado and we have two children that attend Imperial Beach Charter School. I enjoy cycling and running every day. Fun fact about me: I have cycled or ran to work every single day for the last six years. |

Officer Marcela Ruvalcaba I have been a police officer at CVPD for six years. I became a School Resource Officer because I want to guide, mentor, and make a positive impact on students. I grew up in Imperial Beach and graduated from Mar Vista High. I attended San Diego State with a major in Criminal Justice and minor in Russian language. I also speak Spanish. I really enjoy reading, running, and a good cup of coffee. I’m a sports fan and particularly enjoy baseball and soccer. |

Officer Natalie GarnseyI’ve been a Police Officer at CVPD for four years and have been a member of the SRO Unit for a little under one year. As an SRO, I take pride in providing a safe learning environment, as well as being a positive role model to students in the community. I have attended several courses related to mental health, implicit bias, de-escalation and Human Trafficking. I am originally from Upstate New York where I attended high school and junior college. After moving to California, I continued my education at SDSU, where I received my BA in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Physical Therapy. I am an avid sports fan and even played two years of Division II collegiate basketball. My wife and I also love going to the San Diego Zoo. The orangutans are our favorites! |
