The City of Chula Vista (the “City”) is proud to announce the Reduced Sewer Charge Program application period begins Monday, April 22, 2024, at 8:00 am and ends Friday, May 17, 2024, at 12:00 pm. Applications will be available at our office and online when the period begins. In order to create a fair and equitable submission process, applications submitted prior to or after the date and time listed will not be considered. To be considered for a reduced sewer rate, please submit your application with all required supporting documentation. Approved applicants will receive a 30 percent reduction in their sewer service charges.
The Reduced Sewer Charge Program is funded through available, unrestricted revenues allocated by the City for this Program. The City is prohibited from subsidizing the Reduced Sewer Charge Program with revenues collected as part of the normal operation and billing for sewer services. As such, the funding available to this program is limited and selection will be based upon the financial need of each applicant. To make the selection process as fair as possible, the City has established income tiers as noted below. Eligible applicants will be selected by priority, beginning with the Tier 1 Category. If program funding reaches capacity, a lottery selection process will be used to select eligible applicants in the affected tier. Submissions that are incomplete or without required documentation will not be considered. Approval of a Reduced Sewer Rate is contingent on income verification and having a current account status. If your gross annual income is not less than the following amounts for your household size, please DO NOT submit an application.
