3. Three Documents to Upload* when you fill out the application that includes your name and the Short Term Rental address together (options below):
   • Primary Residency Declaration*

   • Photo ID with an address that matches the Short Term Rental address from application match the address on the Photo ID
     • If the Photo ID address does not match the Short Term Rental address: then 2 Primary Residency documents are required
   • Primary Residency
     • Valid CA Motor Vehicle Registration Certificate showing name and a Chula Vista home address
     • Valid CA Voter's Registration Card or Voter Registration Status Document showing name and a Chula Vista address.
     • Copy of current property tax bill indicating homeowner exemption
     • (Only if Photo ID is submitted with address matching your Primary Residency Declaration address) you can include a utility bill issued in the last 6 months showing your name and the same address on your photo ID submitted

To apply for a Short Term Rental License, visit our permitting portal, and select the Licenses tab at the top of the page and choose Short Term Rental License. Registration is required to use the permitting portal.

Applications for renewal must be filed no later than thirty (30) days prior to the Expiration Date set forth on the Permit. Renewal applications must indicate any changes to the information or requirements set forth in CVMC 5.68.070

Renewal Fee: Applications for renewal must be accompanied by a renewal fee in the amount of $175

The Short-Term Rental Administrative Guidelines reflect the City's application of the STR Ordinance and provide detail on how property owners, Permittees, and Hosting Platforms can comply with the STR Ordinance. For full regulations and requirements please refer to the STR Ordinance and CVMC Chapter 5.68.

In addition to compliance with the STR Ordinance, all STRs must be registered and pay Transient Occupancy Taxes (TOT) (CVMC 3.40.060). In order to assist STR operators to register their property(ies) and remit TOT, the City has partnered with Deckard Technologies. Registration can be accessed here.

To file a violation report please complete the online form at the bottom of our Report a Violation page. All lines must be completed for the City to conduct an investigation. No anonymous requests will be investigated.
